Key West Sand Sculpting Competition Sees Some Unique Creations

While we freeze our buns off here, and some in the country are even getting snow, our friends in Key West had some summer fun.

Key West is enjoying some unique creations thanks to international artists who participated in a sand sculpting competition. Eight leading sculptors from several countries battled for the top honors in the challenge, with each of them got nine tons of sand to use in their large scale creations.

Artists molded their designs using only sand and water, with no electric tools, molds or glue allowed. Do you know how difficult that can be? I have done some pretty mean sandcastles at Dauphin Island growing up, but this takes the cake.

Some of the sculptures included a giant toddler bent over to view his world upside down, a segmented body, and a woman doing yoga.

Stay warm!
