Overall, it was a very cool weekend for me... I hope yours was good too!

Saturday night at Mobile International Speedway, the first race of the evening was a Media Race... a 6 lap race featuring local media personalities. I was the lucky one representing 95KSJ! Also in the race were
Chris Holiday of WBLX, WKRG-TV 5 Sports Director Randy Patrick, Greg Peterson of WPMI-TV 15, and Johnny Davis of the Lagniappe.

Originally, I was supposed to be driving the #42 car from Steve Stagner Racing.

However, at race time it had developed some kind of electrical problem and wouldn't start!

Then, at the last minute,
Victor Roberts of Moss Point stepped up and offered up his #61 car for me to drive in the race... hey, I'd seen this car racing at MIS before. I was going to be driving the Cow Car!

Yes, that's me heading in to turn one... where is everyone else, you ask? Probably heading in to turn 3. The good news: I finished in 5th! The bad news? Yes, there were only 5 drivers. The winner was Chris Holiday, followed by Randy Patrick.

The important thing: I had fun! Thanks to Jim Koblas, Derek Long, and everyone else at MIS for hosting the event and making me feel so welcome. Thanks to Steve Stagner for letting me try to drive the #42... and a big thank you to Victor Roberts for risking the Cow Car by letting me drive it! "Eat more chicken, baby!"

We got more much-needed rain this weekend... and even had a few severe storm warnings on Sunday afternoon. This is one that came close to the station.

And I found something cool at the station Sunday afternoon... an old case used by our news department during the 90's. It contained a tape recorder (remember those?), a notebook with notes about a city council meeting from 1997, and a pen with the Coast 100 logo on it (in case you weren't around here in the 90's, that was the old name for LiteMix 99.9). Also inside the case was an unopened pack of "C" cell batteries... too bad that:

a. I don't own anything that uses "C" cells.
b. They expired 10 years ago.

That's about it... hope you have a wonderful week!
